Only a handful of elves still live in this sprawling, magnificent town. The forest has started to reclaim the town, and the graceful arches of white stone are now overrun with vines, and the pale, smooth paving stones are broken by dark roots. Much of the beautiful artwork in the plazas and homes has been deliberately defaced by unknown parties.
Travelers are encouraged to pass through quickly, as rumors abound of a clan of hateful, xenophobic elves who still live in the crumbling ruins – sometimes travelers disappear, and only reappear, if ever, months later with their minds broken by the experience. Other times, travelers find themselves bombarded by near-invisible assailants, leaping with superhuman quickness from building to building.
Incredibly, despite this, there is still a functioning inn at the center of town where travelers can stay. It is run by an ancient elf, and staffed by other elves, all of whom are near-silent. Still, visitors who linger longer than a day or two, or who look like they might be investigating the town too closely, often wake up with an arrow embedded in the wall over their head – engraved on the arrow is the Elven rune “bir’falith”: Get Out.
